WET Science Center

WET Science Center

Something else to do over these last winter days is visit the LOTT (Lacey Olympia Tumwater and Thurston County) Water Education and Technology Science Center, a great place for kids and families to learn all about the forms and functions of water. With a spacious exhibit gallery and classroom, the facility offers a fun, hands on opportunity with exhibits like the mini water treatment plant, where visitors can look through a microscope to see what’s in their water and try their hand at water treatment. Or, “Follow Your Flush” through the pipeline sewer path to the treatment plant from home, school, or work. Explore the Water Conservation Home and its watersaving hints, and monitor your daily water use with the Wastewater Production Calculator. You can even choose a water-treatment job at the interactive Career Center experience. Free Budd Inlet Treatment Plant tours are also available for those 10 and older. WET is open Monday through Saturday 10 to 4; more details are at lottcleanwater.org
