Marketing & Sales Coordinator

The Experience Olympia & Beyond (EOB) Marketing & Sales Coordinator will serve a pivotal role within the organization driving sales initiatives and executing marketing strategies to promote Thurston County, working closely with the CEO and Director of Marketing & Community Engagement, and will:
- Develop a sales plan that supports the strategy, goals, and budget in the EOB annual Business & Marketing Plan.
- Manage all aspects of sales RFPs sent via website.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, including travel agencies, tour operators, and event planners.
- Coordinate site visits and familiarization tours for potential clients to showcase the destination's offerings.
- Conduct outbound communications with industry contacts and stakeholders.
- Serve as lead on organizational sales including Annual Meeting and Sports Awards sponsorships, and Visitor Guide advertising sales.
- Manage LTAC Award Recipient Support program coordination and proof of performance.
- Act as the primary point of contact for visitor calls, visitor emails, and sending visitor guides.
- Serve as administrative support for the marketing team, assisting with the implementation of comprehensive marketing strategies.
- Utilize CRM system for tracking of RFPs and sales leads, reporting, and contributing to proof of performance.
- Maintain CRM system to include a qualified buyer database and a lead distribution procedure.
- Support selected committee meetings to include setting meetings, preparing agendas, and providing minutes post-meeting.
- Attend at least one professional development opportunity annually.
Requirements & Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required in Marketing, Business or Communications.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade others.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of Thurston County.
- Emotionally intelligent and empathetic.
- Ability and character to work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment & Schedule
This salaried exempt position will be full-time and offer flexible scheduling after the initial training period. The Marketing & Sales Coordinator will have the opportunity to work in-office and to work remotely, allowing for flexibility. We do require attendance in-person at our weekly staff meeting, and other days as needed. Technology will be utilized to ensure regular communication and timely completion of work and projects. The ideal candidate will be equally dependable and flexible.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time (i.e. representing Experience Olympia & Beyond at conferences, tradeshows and/or receptions), sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision requirements due to computer work. The employee will occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The employee should be able to speak clearly and hear well when communicating over the phone and in person. The individual must be able to travel independently to domestic and/or international destinations via commercial airlines.
Title, Compensation, and Benefits
- This position reports to the CEO.
- Salary is DOE.
- This position is eligible for annual performance incentives and is measurable against established KPIs for the position.
- This position is eligible to share in organizational sales commissions rewarding completion of deliverables.
- Benefits include medical and dental insurance, vision coverage; 401K matching at 5% with 5% contribution; short-term and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, a corporate-issued laptop; cell-phone reimbursement up to $75/mo., mileage reimbursement outside of Thurston County, paid holidays, sick leave, and 3 weeks of accrued paid vacation.
