Family on forest park trail in Olympia

Adventure at Local Trails

Hike the not-too-crowded nature trails at Burfoot Park (bonus: a beach with views!) or Mima Falls in the lush Capitol State Forest. Check out more can’t-miss hikes here.

Millersylvania Canoe

Get on the Water

Go for slow with a quiet paddle and tasty eats in one trip. Tugboat Annies rents kayaks on its Olympia waterfront dock. Upstairs they serve an eclectic menu of steaks, burgers and seafood. At Millersylvania State Park, the Lakeside Grill & Boats rents kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and pedal boats. When you return from the lake, stay for a cold beer or cider on tap at the Lakeside Beer Garden. (Tip: maintain social distance easier by visiting on weekdays or evenings)

Enjoy a Local Beach

Rejuvenate your spirit with a saltwater splash. The cove at Tolmie State Park is a favorite beach for families with young waders. Want to use your scuba gear before summer ends? Tolmie has an underwater park with an artificial reef just for you.

Cochran Park Bike Trail

Ride into the Sunset (or Sunrise)

Ride your bike on the Chehalis Western Trail. The paved, flat, north-south trail passes through wetlands, forests, farmlands and includes a scenic two miles along the Deschutes River. The southern end of the 22-mile trail meets the Yelm-Tenino Trail, another relaxing course through rural Thurston County. Pro tip: Main Street Cookie Company in Rainier is a tasty rest stop!

Top Attraction Market 3

Sample Farm Fresh Fare

Fill up on fresh at a farmers market. Just-picked veggies and fruits, food booths and more await you at weekend markets in Yelm, Tenino and Olympia. Please plan ahead and follow their safety guidelines.
