Here, handcrafted is a way of life. Our artisans are top notch and their creations—farm goods, gelato, coffee and more—are the perfect excuse to get to know their stories. Spend an afternoon along the Thurston Bountiful Byway and get to know our locals.

Throughout the summer, and beyond, our team will concoct monthly daycation itineraries. Let us take away the indecision and pressure of making plans and give you an easy option to enjoy ALL our region has to offer.

Batdorf & Bronson Tasting

Downtown Olympia Makers

Begin your day with a shot of coffee at the Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters tasting room. Headquartered in Olympia, Batdorf & Bronson coffees are organic and Fair Trade Certified. Once you’ve gotten your fill, walk next door and explore the Olympia Farmers Market, the second largest farmers market in the state of Washington. Visit a variety of local vendors including crafts, farms with fresh organic produce and fruits, meats, fresh seafood and fresh cut flowers. Sit down for a picnic lunch at the market, and before you leave Olympia, drive four blocks to 222 Market and grab a hand-made gelato at Sofie’s Scoops. Make sure to ask Sofie about her “Small Batch from Scratch” process.

Evergreen Valley Lavender Farm / Thane

Meet the Farmers

After lunch, begin your Thurston County farm hop with a visit to the Evergreen Valley Lavender Farm (closes for the 2020 season on Saturday, August 8). Ask Thane for a tour of the farm and for tips on how to create the most fragrant sachet. Head a bit farther down the road and meet with Kathleen at Stone City Farm. Ask her about her goat milk soap and hand-made soap dish! Round out your day with a stop at Ashley Creek Farms and pick up some fresh cut flowers. If you’d like to feed the animals, ask for Mark! For the best experience, plan for at least an hour at each farm.

Well 80

Artesian Brewmaster

Wrap up the day with dinner at Well 80 Brewhouse in downtown Olympia, built on top of one of Olympia’s famous artesian wells. Brewmaster Paul Pearson uses that water to create his masterpieces, including an original recipe lager dating back to the old Olympia Brewing Company. Make sure to order the staple Brewhouse Sprouts with your beverage of choice.
