Tenino Quarry Pool
(Family Fun) Take the kids for a dip in a pool (open seasonally) with a rich history and beautiful location. A priceless gem of Thurston County, the pool was originally a working Sandstone Quarry in the late 1800s run by The Hercules Sandstone Company. Its products were used to construct many of Tenino’s buildings after a substantial fire in the early 20th century as well as notable buildings along the West Coast.
Tenino Depot Museum
(Family Fun & Grown-up Getaway) The sandstone building housing the museum was built in 1914 as a Northern Pacific depot and was active until after WWII. On the main line between Seattle and Portland, eight or nine trains daily stopped here at the height of train travel. The building was kept the same as much as possible and now houses the original press used to make the original wood money, along with old logging tools, old quarry tools, railroad memorabilia and many local artifacts, including a 1920s doctor’s office.
Tenino Farmers Market
(Family Fun & Grown-up Getaway) The Tenino Farmers Market is a seasonal open-air market open every Saturday, June through September, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Market offers fresh, locally-grown produce, plants, handcrafted products, music, workshops, and community outreach.
(Family Fun & Grown-up Getaway) Welcome to the Main Street Cookie Company in Rainier, Washington where the cookies are fresh and perfectly frosted. Some even have sprinkles, if that’s your thing. They are a no-compromise, finest-quality-ingredient, always from scratch bakery. They are artisan cookie bakers, and their slogan is "We Bake With BUTTER", that means sweet cream butter, period. To reach the Main Street Cookie Company off the trail, exit the trail on Center Street in Rainier (you will see a Chevron gas station on the Main Street Cookie Company side).
Cochrane Memorial Park
(Family Fun & Grown-up Getaway) Cochrane Memorial Park offers a beautiful spot for relaxing and enjoying some peace and quiet. This park also serves as the centerpiece of Yelm's water reclamation infrastructure. All the water in the park is reclaimed water that is infiltrated back into the ground to recharge the aquifer.
Yelm Farmers Market
(Family Fun & Grown-up Getaway) Explore local products and don’t miss the playground for kids. Open seasonally, the Yelm Farmers Market was established in 2012 as a program of the Yelm Co-operative in response to the growing demand by farmers and consumers in the Yelm, WA, area for a market to support local growers and to make farm fresh foods more widely available to the community.
