Since 1977 Blue Heron has been providing Olympia and beyond with all natural baked goods, including our world famous Rebel Crunch granola. Originally perched right on Mud Bay, we moved to our current location in 2015. We then expanded our menu to offer breakfast, homemade soups, and sandwiches, in addition to our wide range of breads, pastries and cakes.
Our focus is on making healthy meals and treats for a variety of dietary needs. There are multiple options for wheat-free, gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian eaters. Pretty much everything except our condiments are made from scratch - we even make our own chocolate syrup! We strive to use organic ingredients whenever possible. All the sugar we use is organic unrefined cane sugar and we frequently bake with natural sweeteners like honey, maple syrup and blackstrap molasses.
For our dining options, we offer take out or you can come and enjoy our outdoor patio (covered and heated in the winter). All are welcome to come relax, chat, study, use our free Wifi, listen to the rain and be yourself.
Our mission is to bring people together through making and selling quality natural foods, with care, personable service and cooperative practices. After all, the original meaning of the word companion is “people you eat bread with.”
