Experience Olympia & Beyond inspires travel to Thurston County by connecting visitors with meaningful experiences, vibrant communities, and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
We promote our destination with purpose, supporting local places, people, and a thriving visitor economy with the goal of attracting new visitors (50+ miles away).
Tourism plays a vital role in supporting Thurston County’s economy and the communities that make our region unique.
By promoting local attractions, businesses, and events to visitors from outside the area, Experience Olympia & Beyond helps drive visitor spending, support local jobs, and increase lodging tax revenue.
These tourism-generated dollars help fund public services, parks, and community amenities—strengthening local businesses and helping reduce the tax burden on residents across the county.
What We Do
Experience Olympia & Beyond (EOB) is Thurston County’s official destination marketing organization. We work with local governments, tourism businesses, and community partners to promote the county as a welcoming and inspiring place to visit.
We connect visitors from outside the region with trip-planning resources and authentic local experiences, helping them discover what makes Thurston County special.
Through strategic marketing and strong partnerships, EOB supports a healthy visitor economy—strengthening the local community while positioning Thurston County as a destination worth exploring.
How We Operate
Experience Olympia & Beyond is funded through a mix of tourism-related sources, including lodging taxes, Tourism Promotion Area assessments, private partnerships, and grants.
This diversified funding approach allows us to market Thurston County competitively, support local businesses, and attract overnight visitors who contribute directly to the local economy.
By reinvesting tourism dollars into strategic regional promotion, we help sustain a healthy visitor economy that benefits communities across the county.
