"THE ORCA": A modern painting encounter with the ancient world of formline art, on Sunday, January 18th, 1 - 4 PM.
We are excited to bring the popular formline art series with Tlingit tribal member Wéidaaká Yóodóohaa (Bill Pfeifer, Jr.) to Olympia! In this immersive experience, you'll create a traditional formline ORCA (Kéet) on a beautiful red cedar plank. The ORCA symbolizes strength, family, and spiritual guidance.
In the relaxing environment of the Gasthaus, you'll connect with this ancient art form, depicting animals and figures from oral histories. As you paint, enjoy traditional village music and cedar aromas, enhancing your connection to both your artwork and the vibrant native culture.
Savor a cup of wild herbal tea and smoked fish bites as you immerse yourself in the Pacific Northwest. BYOB and outside food are welcome.
This unique paint & sip invites you to explore the visual language of the native peoples of the Northwest Coast. No painting experience is necessary; just bring your willingness to explore your creativity and embrace the beauty of formline. Join us for a fun and unforgettable painting experience where art and PNW native culture come together.
