The Olympia Dragon Boat Festival is a celebration of tradition, teamwork, and community. Rooted in over 2,000 years of history from southern China, dragon boat racing is a sport that blends power, rhythm, and unity.
The 2026 Olympia Dragon Boat Festival is scheduled for July 11, 2026 at the Port Plaza. Hundreds of people on dragon boating teams from across the Pacific Northwest will compete in head-to-head sprint races at the Port Plaza, showcasing their strength, coordination and sportsmanship. We will have local vendors selling food, crafts, and dragon boat gear, as well as some live performances, including the traditional Chinese Lion Dance. The festival remains free and open to the public, welcoming spectators of all ages.
This year, we are in the process of planning events for the Friday evening before the races on Saturday, including musical performances. Stay tuned for more information!
