The Olympia Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society was chartered in August 1961 and the chapter’s Puget Sounders chorus has been entertaining local groups and singing at local events ever since that time. The chorus strives to provide wholesome family entertainment for the general public. As a singing group, the Puget Sounders provide meaningful musical opportunities and experiences to our members, men of all ages, through performance and musical education. Our members also experience social interaction and personal gratification through participation in an enjoyable leisure-time activity. We are a small group, but for major singing engagements, for the past few years, we have been combining forces with the Two-Town Tuners chorus from Centralia and Chehalis. During the past summer, the combined chorus has appeared at a local festival in Tenino, at the Southwest Washington Fair and at the Garlic Festival in Centralia, at Harbor Days in Olympia, at the Onalaska Apple Festival, and at the Thurston County Fair. In addition, the combined group puts on two shows held annually in Chehalis and in Olympia. We are always looking for new members. Any man, old, young, or in-between, who would enjoy a cappella harmony, fellowship, and receiving applause from appreciative audiences, is invited to join us every Wednesday from 7-9:15 p.m at: Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1925 Boulevard Rd., Olympia, WA.
