South Sound Community! Join us at the Avanti Bikes! Bike Shop Open House at Avanti High School!
Mission: Avanti Bikes! empowers students through hands-on bicycle education, fostering physical activity, environmental awareness, and community engagement. We teach safe biking and provide shop experience, supporting Avanti’s values of equity and student-centered learning.
Program Overview: Partnering with Intercity Transit’s @walknrollit, Avanti Bikes! redefines PE. Students earn a bike while learning pedestrian and bike safety. The program includes maintenance training, on-road experience, and certifications like @bikeleague SMART CYCLE .
In collaboration with @washingtontrails, we offer bike-packing adventures exploring PNW’s bike culture.
Future Plans: Avanti Bikes! will launch a bike shop serving @olympiaschooldistrict schools and the South Sound Community, becoming a hub for bike events, repairs, and internships through Walk-N-Roll.
Event Details:
When: September 25, 2024, 5-7 PM
Where: Avanti High School, 1113 Legion Way, Olympia, WA. The bike shop is in Madison Elementary’s upper lot @madisonelementaryolympiapto)
Students will demonstrate skills from our Intro to Bike course, including safety checks and maintenance.
We’ll also showcase partnerships and internships, partially funded and supported by the @cityofolympia Inspire Olympia Grant for 2024-2025. Special thanks to our fiscal sponsor @togetherforkids, who will be sharing about their programming at the Open House.
