Materials provided by student: Sock yarn-Look for yarn that is around 420m/100g or 460 yds/3.5 oz. This weight yarn may also be called fingering weight or sport weight. You will need a total of 800 yards— 400 yards for the warp and slightly less than that for the weft. Choose a solid and a multi-colored or two different colored solids or all one color. This yarn is readily available at local yarn stores. ***Important–Do not bring any other type of yarn for this project. You may also want to bring along: lunch/snacks/drinks, pillow for the loom bench, pocket folder or notebook, page protector sheets, scissors, pencil/pen, tape measure.

Class Description: In this fast-paced 2-day class, students will learn how floor looms are set up and discover the wonder of creating their own cloth. The instructor will guide students through all the basic steps of weaving from preparing a warp and dressing a loom to reading a weaving draft and finally, weaving their scarf. Students will purchase yarn as directed in the supplies list and leave class with a woven scarf. (Final finishing of the scarf will be done at home.)
