An up-close encounter with Daedalus Quartet, winners of the 2001 Banft International String Quartet Competition and Lincoln Center’s Martin E. Segal Award. This unique storytelling performance incorporates Tolkien’s Kreutzer Sonata and other texts, woven through composers’ takes on the Kreutzer theme, and, in some cases, the composers’ relationship to the Tolstoy family.
Janacek: String Quartet No. 1, “Kreutzer Sonata”
Taneyev: Selection from String Quartet No. 2
Beethoven: Sonata Op. 47, “Kreutzer”
(arranged for string quartet)
